Teacher's note February 17, 2014

I am very pleased with the team effort selling Hug a grams.   Thank you to all who helped make Hug a grams a success.  Soleng Tom will donate $1,100 to The Community Food Bank!  They have the purchasing power to buy $9 worth of food for every dollar donated.  Our school is trying to be  KIND!

The literacy parade on Friday was fantastic!  The kids looked terrific and carried a good book to recommend.  We had an enjoyable time marching in the parade and seeing all of the costumes.

I hope you already know that Rodeo Vacation is this Thursday and Friday. It appears we will have beautiful weather for our vacation!  May we all have time for relaxation and fun.

Wednesday afternoon our staff decided together to review behavior expectations with our students and use behavior modification techniques as needed to encourage excellent behavior.  All of the staff will be working together to promote appropriate behavior.  As we tighten our belt, you may be contacted if your son or daughter is not following the expectations.  Please continue to be supportive and encourage your son or daughter to always do their best in academics and  behavior.

Our class will read "Fire" this week and focus on informational text features.  We will have vocabulary and spelling words even with a three day week.  The kids will also complete and mail their author letter.

We will  study types of triangles, motions, and congruency in our geometry unit before we take the  test on Wednesday.  The kids should know perimeter, area, quadrilaterals, polygons, types of angles and types of triangles for the test.  I will encourage the students to use their notebook to study and prepare for the test.
I send my best wishes to each of you.

Warmly,
Mrs. Figueroa
