Last week was super exciting with the book fair, The Lightning Thief movie, 100 in 5 celebration, Red Ribbon Week and our first P. E. with Mrs. Curly. Our week was definitely action packed! I want to thank Jacob's family for providing the special treats for our class on Thursday - we loved them!
This week will be exciting too! I am eager to see the biography book reports that are due on Friday. We have already enjoyed three presentations! I hope the students have read their book and currently deciding how they want to present the information to the class. No doubt, the class will have excellent biography reports to share!
Our language arts goals are to gain a better understanding of metaphors and point of view of the author. We want to be able to determine first or third person while reading and use the proper voice when writing. An excerpt from Sarah Plain and Tall will be our reading selection for the week.
Our fraction unit will continue with ordering fractions on a number line, locating fractions on a ruler, finding equivalent fractions and simplifying. My plan is to take the comparing and ordering fraction test on Friday. I sincerely hope the kids gain a solid understanding of these fraction concepts.
Thursday we have a docent from Tucson Museum of Art coming to Soleng Tom to teach us an art lesson and help us make a project! We will display the art as soon as possible. Our Fall Leaves art project will be displayed in our room soon too. Please stop by to admire the kids' artistic talents.
It is time to start building circuits in electricity! The kids will add a battery holder and bulb socket to their tool kit in order to build a circuit. Please ask your son or daughter what they have recently learned about electricity.
A sincere thank you for your continued support.
Warmly,
Mrs. Figueroa
