We have another wonderful week ahead of us! It is Soleng Tom's spirit week. Monday is Disney Day, the kids can dress as any Disney character. Tuesday is grade level color day and fourth grade wears purple. Wednesday is crazy socks, Thursday will be Twin Day and Friday is pajama day.
Our field trip to Saguaro National Park is scheduled for this Wednesday. The ranger wants us to arrive at the park at 9:15 and be ready for the rotations at 9:30. I would appreciate the drivers being at school at 8:50 so we can get organized and leave by 9:00. I feel the kids are very prepared for this field trip because of the four presentations we have enjoyed with the park rangers. We should arrive back at school at 12:00 - perfect time to eat lunch.
We took the unit six fractions and decimals test on Thursday. The results will be in Monday's Dragon Folder for you to view. As always, a student may review the test and try again. I am available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:30 to tutor any student who wishes to receive more assistance.
Our next unit is 3 D geometry! Visual learners seem to really enjoy this unit!
Monday our class will finish reading Because of Winn Dixie. Last Friday we were at the most exciting part of the book and it was oh so tempting to ignore our other work to read more.
Thursday I will introduce our next writing project, the character sketch. The kids will be writing informational paragraphs in first person about themselves and sketching a front cover for the final copy. We will write about our personality, looks, hobbies, important people, favorite places and goals. There will be plenty of opportunities for students to strive for a four on this assignment. It is one of my absolute favorite writing assignments of the whole year.
