The kids have been working hard on writing their character sketch. So far we have written about our looks, personality, hobbies, favorite places, and important people. All we have left to write are our goals and the conclusion. I am going to ask for your help editing on Monday night and then Tuesday morning we will go to the computer lab to work on the final copy.
Friday we started book report presentations and listened to eight wonderful reports. A few students were a bit frustrated that they did not get to present yet. Monday morning and afternoon we will have more opportunities to share book reports. It may take us two or three days for everyone to present.
I hope we reached our goal of everyone learning at least two multiplication strategies. This week the goal will be to learn division strategies. It sure helps if the students are fluent with their multiplication facts.
The electricity science unit will continue to get more exciting. This week the students will build a filament, learn symbols, and be able to build a series and parallel circuit. Plus we will be reading out of our books and defining electricity words.
Thursday, March 29 is the regional track meet for Soleng Tom Elementary. The track athletes will report to the cafeteria by 7:50 to prepare to leave to Sahuaro High School. I will be with the track team at Sahuaro. The rest of the class will line up at Mrs. Dimas's door and spend the morning with her and the afternoon in Mrs. Vuturo's class watching a movie. I will expect every one of my students to do their best whether they are at the track meet or at school. Best wishes to the track team!
