I am very excited about our field trip to De Grazia Art Museum on Thursday. We plan on leaving Soleng Tom by 9:15 and arriving at the museum by 10:00. We will go on a tour, do an art activity, eat a picnic and arrive back at school about 1:30. Drivers, please be in our class by 9:00 to go over car assignments and directions. It should be a very pleasant day for all of us.
Monday at 9:45 will be the 4th grade Strive for Excellence Assembly. Seven of our students will be receiving a responsibility award. The invitations to the recipient's families were in their progress report envelope. I know the students love when a family member can attend the assembly.
The Dragon Folder on Monday will be packed with information! It will include the Spell-a-thon packet, Hug-a-gram letter, track parent permission form and more! Please take a few minutes to read through the information. Yes, when it rains - it pours!
You would have loved to see the electric house the kids created! It is amazing what they can build with a few electric supplies, cardboard and paper. Our next unit is Weather! The kids will learn about the tools meteorologist use and then set up a mini weather station to gather data. The data will be used to study weather patterns.
The division and multiplication tests were given back on Thursday. Some of the students wanted to take their tests home to show you that night and others wanted it to go home in their Dragon Folder. Please ask to see your child's math test. We will continue to review multiplication and division, but move on to measurement. So far we have talked about liquid customary measurement. Next we learn linear measurement using the customary and metric system. This would be a great time for the students to practice measuring length of objects at home. Later in the week we will work on perimeter, area and symmetry.
The kids have written their outline to their story Too Much of a Good Thing. Now we are working on the rough draft and using quotation marks correctly. The final copy can be hand written or computer generated.
I will be encouraging my students to participate in track if they are interested. I will be one of the coaches and enjoy watching the kids develop new skills. Of course, I love all of my All Stars whether or not they try out for track.
