We have an extremely exciting week of learning activities planned! Tuesday Jimmy Stewart's Weather Bus will be parked at Soleng Tom and the fourth graders will have an opportunity to learn from an expert! They will love his technology tools. Thursday the fourth grade will celebrate Arizona's birthday with Arizona Day in the morning. The kids will rotate through three activities that will enhance their knowledge of Arizona. Then Thursday afternoon our class will have an opportunity to celebrate Valentine's Day. A class list will be given to the students on Monday. Please give each student a Valentine if you decide to participate. Friday a special Rodeo presentation is coming to Soleng Tom. I am looking forward to seeing that performance.
Tuesday is a very important day for the spell a thon, the money is due to be considered for a prize. I would like to encourage each family to donate at the level you feel comfortable.
In Monday's Dragon Folder will be our school quality survey. Please complete the survey and return it to school on Tuesday. I will ask a student to collect the surveys and your responses will remain anonymous.
Hug a grams are also this week! Sales will be Monday through Thursday during lunch. Parents may purchase Hug a grams before school in the front office. The fourth grade students will take turns working at the hug a gram sales table. We have decided to make a change in what we do with the proceeds. Instead of donating to the Community Food Bank, the money will be placed in a fund to fund Mrs. Damek, our counselor, for next year. The district will be cutting counselors in schools with less than 500 students. Our community would like to raise the funds to keep our fabulous counselor.
Even with the all the exciting events mentioned above, the majority of our time this week will be spent on vocabulary, reading informational text, learning the format of a friendly letter, learning decimals and comparing decimals.
I am very excited about our learning opportunities this week!
Take care,
Mrs. Figueroa
