Last week was very exciting for our family as we welcomed a beautiful and healthy grandson to the family. The students made me the cutest, congratulations cards ever! I will be absent occasionally as the healing process for my daughter continues.
Monday we took the two dimensional geometry test. I hope the students showed you their graded test on Tuesday evening. A few students need a little review on lines, rays, points and line segments. I will be available Friday morning before school for anyone who wishes to review geometry concepts in a smaller group.
Our next math unit is developing number sense to 1,000, 10,000, and strategies for addition and subtraction. The kids will be building a 1,000 book this week and later a 10,000 chart.
It is great having a student expert for our reading selection Two Lands, One Heart. It is nonfiction describing a boy visiting his relatives in Vietnam. David has been adding very interesting details to our class discussions. Our reading skill is comparing and contrasting information.
Thursday should be exciting as the kids learn about magnets. They will get to experiment with two types of magnets and a bag of iron fillings. Usually the kids love this investigation.
Take care,
Mrs. Figueroa
