It was great to see so many families at the Soleng Tom BBQ. The kids were super cute playing their boom whackers and dancing! Thanks for attending.
We completed the stories in our reading anthology. That also means we finished our spelling and vocabulary words for the year. We will be reading the novel The Report Card by Andrew Clements and writing a poetry book. I hope the students love writing and designing their poems. The kids will write their rough draft at school and the final copy at home, preferably on a computer. They are encouraged to add pictures and color.
Monday our class will take the unit nine math test on graphs, tables and stories. The rest of the year will be a review of the most important concepts that we should master in fourth grade. As we review, we will start work in class and then any unfinished work will be expected to be completed at home.
Monday the students will have to complete the house they have been wiring with lights and switches. We have some very interesting buildings and even one barn with stalls. The electricity unit is scheduled for pick on Tuesday morning.
It is time to begin gathering up books that belong to Soleng Tom. For those of you who checked out a math handbook, please return it by Thursday. Also, library books should be handed in by Friday, May 11. I would certainly appreciate your help in locating and returning the books.
Friday, May 11 I will be attending the U of A College of Engineering graduation - it will be a day of celebration for my family. Mrs. Carlson is scheduled to be my substitute and I would appreciate the cooperation of the students once again.
